Palm Cove
Be Croc Wise!!
It’s important to take precautions near Tropical North Queensland waterways. Crocodiles are an ancient and fascinating species, but they can also be dangerous if you don’t give them the proper respect.
They can be found in estuaries and beaches around Tropical North Queensland as well as in rivers, lagoons and swamps hundreds of kilometers from the sea. They are most active at night and in the breeding season from September to April.
As the wedding is during breeding season, we ask guests to be extra cautious when exploring the beach front and surrounding waterways. Below are some croc wise tips to ensure a safe holiday.
- Always obey crocodile warning signs.
- Do not walk close to the water's edge, especially in the late afternoon/early evenings. (sorry, no dipping your toes to cool off)
- Never swim where crocodiles may be present, even if you don’t see any signs.
- Look out for crocodile slide marks on the bank and stay well away from them.
Getting around
Palm cove is so tiny, it is easy to walk most places. The esplanade is roughly a 15 minute walk from end to end.
There are bus stops on the esplanade which will take you to Cairns on the 110 bus. Many tours will also pick up from Palm cove.
There are absolutely Ubers and taxis around, just leave time for them to arrive as they may be coming from Cairns.
Baby sitters
If you are bringing your little ones on holiday and would like to have a night out or some support while you are away, we have been recommended the following babysitting companies.
- Busy Bees Babysittinghttps://www.busybeesbabysitting.com.au/
- Executive Babysitting https://www.executivebabysitting.com.au/index.html
Supermarkets
Palm cove does not have an actual supermarket, there is a small deli/convenience store, but the prices are ludicrous. There is a woolworths in smithfield and a Coles in trinity beach which are neighboring towns. Both will offer delivery, or you can catch the bus there if you need supplies.
